Building our Collaborative Capacity with Beavers - Virtual Workshop
Thank you to Kate Lundquist, Grey Hayes, and Brock Dolman from the WATER Institute at Occidental Arts & Ecology Center (OAEC) for sharing the story of how beavers, once nearly extirpated from California, are being welcomed back as powerful partners in watershed restoration. In this virtual workshop, the WATER Institute Team enlightens us about the incredible benefits of beavers for biodiversity, carbon sequestration, water quality, and overall wetland health, helping to buffer climate extremes and resources to support coexistence.
The team shared several innovations that allow us to coexist with Beavers. And, they described how the California Beaver Help Desk can help you. Whether you're a farmer navigating a flooded field or a watershed practitioner looking for new tools, the help desk offers technical support, financial assistance, and training opportunities.
